What is dog beer? Meet Zoomies IPA

By Dave · Deshed Fresh, Newcastle

Yes, we make beer for dogs. And no, there’s no actual beer in it.

Zoomies IPA is our take on happy hour for your four-legged mate: a 300 mL can of 100% Australian slow-cooked beef bone broth.

The name is a bit of fun. What’s inside is simple.

What’s in the can?

One ingredient: Australian beef bone broth.

We slow-cook it for 24 hours and remove the fat before canning. There’s no alcohol, no hops and no carbonation.

It isn’t human beer with the alcohol taken out. It’s bone broth made for dogs, dressed up for the occasion.

How do you serve it?

Pour a little into your dog’s bowl as a treat, or add a splash over their regular food.

You don’t need to serve the whole can at once. Start with a small amount, especially if your dog hasn’t had beef broth before, and see how they go.

If you’re introducing a new food at the same time, keep things simple. Try one new thing at a time so you can tell what suits them.

Is it a meal replacement?

No. Zoomies IPA is a complementary treat or meal topper.

Your dog’s regular complete and balanced food should still do the main nutritional work. A can of broth doesn’t replace that.

I also don’t want to dress it up with a long list of promises. It’s a simple beef broth your dog can enjoy alongside their usual meals. That’s enough.

Why call it Zoomies IPA?

Because feeding your dog can be fun as well as practical.

We put plenty of thought into our Deshed Fresh recipes. There’s room for a little fun alongside them too—whether that’s a splash of broth over dinner or letting your dog join you for happy hour.

The can looks like beer. Your dog gets beef broth. Everyone gets to feel included.

A little extra for your best mate

Zoomies IPA is made by Deshed in Newcastle and costs $4.99 for a 300 mL can.

If you’re unsure whether beef broth fits your dog’s diet, particularly if they have a beef allergy or prescribed feeding plan, check with your vet first.

Otherwise, keep it simple: a little broth, their usual bowl, and a very interested dog.
